China is where much of the world's hardware is now designed and built: electric vehicles rolling off automated lines, electronics supply chains that fit inside a single city, bridges and dams at a scale found nowhere else. More and more executives, engineers, buyers and curious travelers want to see it for themselves. The good news: it's possible. The catch: access is fragmented, rules vary factory by factory, and "open to the public" rarely means you can walk up to the gate. This guide shows what you can book yourself, what needs an introduction, and how we plan private business and industrial trips around both.

Factory Tours Foreigners Can Book in 2026
These programs publish an official booking route. Details were verified in August 2026 by Tech Buzz China against each operator's own pages; always reconfirm before you travel.

| BMW Brilliance Tiexi Factory | Shenyang | Automotive | Individuals (weekdays 14:00) and private groups | Official booking page; English guides listed; about RMB 60 per adult · official info |

| BAIC Xiangjie Super Factory | Beijing | Electric vehicles | Paused (as of Aug 2026) | Reservations suspended during factory modifications · official info |
Honest note: a booking page is not a guarantee. Slots sell out, some systems don't accept foreign passports, and a "factory tour" may be an exhibition hall rather than a live production line. When we plan your trip, we confirm eligibility, language and route with the operator and keep a backup for every visit.
Can I Visit BYD, Huawei, Tesla, CATL or DJI?
This is the question we hear most. These companies do host visitors — but mainly invited professional groups such as customers, partners, investors, officials and industry delegations. None has a standing public booking route for ordinary visitors that we can verify. What we do is apply to the company directly on your behalf, presenting your group properly: a clear purpose, company or organization profile and proposed dates. The host always makes the decision, so we build a confirmed program around it — for example, public EV factory tours, flagship showrooms and meetings with suppliers in the same industry — so your trip succeeds either way.
Engineering Marvels You Can Visit
- Three Gorges Dam (Hubei) — the world's largest hydropower project by installed capacity, with a public visitor area and viewpoints over the ship lift and locks.
- Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge — a sea-crossing bridge-and-tunnel link across the Pearl River Delta, with sightseeing tours from Zhuhai and Hong Kong.
- Shanghai Maglev — a commercial magnetic-levitation train between Pudong Airport and Longyang Road.
- FAST radio telescope (Guizhou) — the 500-meter aperture telescope has a visitor area; phones and cameras must be stored before entering the radio-quiet zone.
- High-speed rail — the network itself is the marvel; we route business trips by train wherever it beats flying.

Visas for Business Visits
Visa-free (30 days, until December 31, 2026): ordinary passport holders from the UK, Canada, most EU countries, Switzerland, Norway, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and several Gulf and Latin American countries can enter China without a visa for business, tourism, exchanges and transit. US citizens generally need a visa, and a business (M) visa application requires an invitation letter from a host in China. We provide that invitation letter — issued through our China-based travel company or the host company you are visiting — together with your confirmed itinerary. The visa decision itself is made by the Chinese embassy or consulate. Eligible travelers continuing to a third country may use 240-hour visa-free transit. Practical Tips for Company Visits
- Bring your original passport — real-name bookings are checked against it.
- Bilingual business cards are still expected; so is WeChat — most follow-up happens there.
- Ask before photographing — many factories ban cameras and phones on the production floor.
- Protect your IP — share designs only under an NDA, ideally one enforceable in China.
- Set up payments and data first: Alipay, WeChat Pay and a VPN before you fly.
How We Build Your Private Business Trip
- Brief — the companies, industries or sites you want to see, your purpose, dates and group size.
- Access plan — which visits can be booked, which need a formal request, and the backup for each.
- Company applications & confirmations — we apply directly to host companies and operators and confirm language, route and ID rules.
- Visa invitation letter — if your passport needs a visa, we issue the invitation letter for your application, matched to your confirmed itinerary.
- Logistics — private driver, interpreter-guide, hotels, trains, flights, SIM and payment setup.
- On the ground — your guide handles introductions, translation and schedule changes in real time.
Every trip is private and custom-built, so pricing sits at the premium end. We'll ask for your hotel level and budget range before proposing a plan.

Request a Custom Business TripFrequently Asked Questions
Can foreigners visit factories in China?
Yes. Some manufacturers run public industrial-tourism programs — such as Xiaomi's EV factory in Beijing, XPeng in Guangzhou, BMW Brilliance in Shenyang and the Tsingtao Beer Museum in Qingdao — but almost all require advance booking, and some booking systems are hard to use without a Chinese ID. Supplier and factory visits for business are arranged directly with the company.
Can I visit BYD, Huawei, Tesla, CATL or DJI?
These companies may host invited professional delegations, but none has a standing public booking route for ordinary visitors that we can verify. We can submit a delegation request on your behalf with a clear purpose and company profile; the host decides. We always build a confirmed alternative program so your trip does not depend on one yes.
Do I need a business visa to visit Chinese companies?
It depends on your passport. Citizens of the UK, Canada, most of the EU, Australia, New Zealand, Japan, South Korea and other listed countries can enter visa-free for up to 30 days for business, tourism, exchanges and transit until December 31, 2026. US citizens generally need a visa; a business (M) visa application requires an invitation letter from a host in China, which we provide.
Can you provide an invitation letter for a China business visa?
Yes. For clients whose passport requires a visa, we issue the invitation letter for the business (M) visa application — through our China-based travel company or the host company you are visiting — matched to your confirmed itinerary and company visits. We also apply directly to the companies you want to visit. The final visa decision is made by the Chinese embassy or consulate, so apply early.
When is the Canton Fair in 2026?
The 140th Canton Fair (autumn 2026) runs in three phases at the Pazhou complex in Guangzhou: October 15–19 (electronics, machinery, vehicles), October 23–27 (home goods, furniture, building materials) and October 31–November 4 (textiles, health, food, toys). Overseas buyers should register online for a buyer badge before arriving.
Will I see a live production line?
Not always. A factory tour can mean an operating workshop, a viewing corridor, an exhibition hall or a company museum, and production schedules, confidential model launches or maintenance can change the route. Photography is often banned on the production floor. We confirm the format with the host before you travel.
How far in advance should I plan a business trip to China?
Allow 4–8 weeks for company visits and delegations, longer for large or senior groups. Public factory slots can open only a few days to weeks ahead, and Canton Fair hotels near Pazhou fill early.
Can you arrange private visits to engineering sites like the Three Gorges Dam?
Yes. Many engineering landmarks have public visitor programs — including the Three Gorges Dam, the Hong Kong–Zhuhai–Macao Bridge, Shanghai's maglev and the FAST radio telescope visitor area in Guizhou — and we combine them with private guides, drivers and hotels into one itinerary.
How much does a custom China business trip cost?
Every trip is private and built to your goals, so pricing sits at the premium end and depends on cities, group size, hotel level and how many visits we arrange. Tell us your dates, group size, hotel preference and budget range and we will send a proposal.
