A charming walled town beside Erhai Lake with Bai minority culture, marble handicrafts, and mountain backdrop. 5 hours from Kunming by train.

Lijiang Old Town

UNESCO World Heritage Naxi minority town with canals, wooden bridges, and Jade Dragon Snow Mountain as backdrop. Touristy but magical at dawn.

Tiger Leaping Gorge

One of the world's deepest gorges. 2-day trek along cliff-edge trails above the Yangtze. Challenging but unforgettable. Best hiking in China.
