Questions
Can I really travel China for 10 days without a visa?
Yes, if your passport is on the 240-hour visa-free transit list (the US is) and you arrive from one country or region and leave for a different one: for example, fly in from the US and out to Seoul, Tokyo or Hong Kong. You must enter through a designated port and stay within the 24 permitted provinces.
Which cities can I visit on 240-hour transit?
All the main first-trip cities are in permitted provinces: Beijing, Shanghai, Xi'an, Chengdu, Chongqing, Guilin, Hangzhou, Suzhou, Guangzhou, Shenzhen, Zhangjiajie, Huangshan, Kunming, Lijiang and Harbin. Tibet, Xinjiang, Gansu (Dunhuang), Qinghai, Inner Mongolia, Ningxia and Jilin are not included.
Does the builder know when sights are closed?
Yes, for the main ones. The Forbidden City (Palace Museum), the National Museum of China and the Shaanxi History Museum close on Mondays, so the builder moves them to another day in the same city. It schedules the panda base in the morning, and warns about winter-only or winter-affected sights and national holidays.
How many cities fit into 240 hours?
Two or three cities at a comfortable pace, four if you move fast. Each move between cities costs a half day to a full day, and the clock runs out at midnight on the tenth day after arrival.
Is the generated itinerary final?
No. It is a draft built from your choices with approximate transfer times. Our local partner checks opening days, tickets, trains and hotels and turns it into a confirmed itinerary and quote.
